  1. for every cup of sugar put three tablespoons of cornstarch

  2. Confectioners, powdered or icing sugar is granulated sugar that has been ground to a powder with cornstarch added to prevent lumping and crystallization. It comes in 4X, 6X and 10X but 10X is the one generally found in stores. 10X means that the granulated sugar has been processed ten times. Confectioners sugar is used in meringues, icings, confections, and some sweet pastry.

both ways are correct  , there is aproximatley 1 tablespoon if corn starch per cup by weight in store bought confectionary  sugar

and truthfully a food processor works much better.

  3. POWDERED SUGAR

    1 c. granulated sugar

Blend sugar on highest speed in blender for 20 to 45 seconds. Store in airtight container. Purchased powdered sugar is approximately double the cost of granulated sugar.

  4. my dad just put it in the blender one time and i was amazed

he didnt add anything and it tasted great

  5. use your food processer and you can get it powdery fine as you like..but why not buy it from the supermaket its very cheap..less than a dollor a bag

  6. granulated suagr + a wee bit of cornstarch in food processor.  Superfine sugar will give you a head-start.

  7. You buy powdered sugar. Already powdered...I've never tried to make it.

    This is recipe...

Blend 1 cup of granulated sugar in blender until desired powder is produced. Easy and much less expensive than store bought powdered sugar!

    Second recipe with Cornstarch:

Homemade powdered sugar. Put 1 cup granulated sugar and 1 rounded tablespoon of cornstarch into the blender and process it at medium speed. Whirl it a while, turn it off, push down the sugar from sides of container, give it another whirl till it is fine and powdery. There is a difference in blenders, some make very smooth powdered sugar that can be used in frostings. In some blenders there may be some graininess and this can be used in any recipe that is baked, or can be sprinkled on cookies and cakes..

  8. i did this last week. put 1 cup of sugar to 1 tablespoon of cornstarch in a blender or food processor. if either container is plastic the sugar can scratch the glass. the cornstarch is used to keep the sugar from clumping because the sugar will start to get hot. it will take awhile to get it to powdered form though. i'm sure you could try and skip the cornstarch, but i didn't
