How to make recorded music sound better??

me and my friend are starting a band and will be recording our singing on my laptop..what kind of programs are there that we could buy that would make our voices sound better?? i guess kind of like a remixer? im not sure..any suggestions would help..

try audio processing software.

Syntrillium software's 'cool edit pro' might be suitable.

mmm maybe compression and changes to dynamics and stuff..
