How to make someone see they have so much!?

My brother is so selfish! We are all dealing with the loss of my dad, and he only thinks about himself! He has so much more than me, and he doesn't see it! He still thinks he is deprived! I'm tired of having to give up stuff for him! He is 16, but he is slow, so, he is really 11ish, and I'm 14 almost 15. How can we make him happy with what he has?

Also, he wants a job, but is also scared about it, how can we coach him along to getting a job? We are thinking that he would be a bagger at Vons, or something, and he seemed to like that. The Vons is within walking distance from our house, and everything! I want him to get a job, because it would take an allowence burden off of my mother!

it sounds like you are going to have to set an example for him to follow. try to keep ya cool though getting frustrated with him will only make him dig his heals in. Have you ever been told not to do someting and you want to do it all the more?

If he's in special education, his school is required to have a transition plan for him--one that covers the transition from school to work. I'm hoping his IEP coordinator or someone at the school has some good connections in the community and is willing to help him find a job.
