How to make sure that the car will not slip?

any tips on how to ensure the car will not slip when stopping at a traffic light on a hilly place. Using a manual car. Should i let go some clutch and press on some accelerator then release the handbrake? please contribute your tips, i am new learner... thanks lot...

Make sure your brake is engaged when on a slope.... seeing that your car is manual or stick shift... you can do this or just let a little clutch work come into play. Make sure that you're always aware of those in front and behind you at all times. just in case your car starts to roll a little. The method you mentioned in your question...."Should i let go some clutch and press on some accelerator then release the handbrake?" That will eventually damage your Emergency Brake. Try to avoid this... It all get better with practice... do it a couple of times and you'll be just fine.

for 1 thing, don,t let the clutch hold the car on a hill when your stopped, that will overheat the clutch.learn how to let off the clutch and brake and give it gas at the same time without stalling it.
