  1. Soak rice in water for 30 minutes to an hour. Wash it.

Then if you want to get rid of the starch boil it in a big pan with 4 times the water for 1 cup rice. Check for when its done. It will squish nicely between your finger , but the grains will be intact. Drain the water. This was you have healthy non- starchy delicious rice.

If you don't care about draining starch. Then use rice cooker. 1 cup rice = 2 cup water, 2 cup rice = 3.5 cup water, 3 cup rice = 5 cup water.

  2. 1 box of minute rice, and then follow the directions on the box! I like plain white rice, and have tried several brands. I honestly wont cook with anything else. Follow the directions completely and you will have perfect rice every time, and it isn't sticky!

  3. For perfect rice boil 2 cups water with 1 tbsp butter.  Add 1 cup rice to boiling water. Stir.  Cover .  Reduce heat if you have an electric stove to exactly med-low.  Simmer for 20 min exactly. Makes perfect rice.

  4. Place a calderon (a heavy pot) on the stove and put the heat to medium high. Place just enough oil to almost cover the bottom of the pan but not more then that, 2 1/2 tablespoons Recaito (goya product), 2 packets of sazon, 1 can tomato sauce and let simmer for a  minute stirring well. ( this has to be done quickly so nothing starts to stick to the bottom yet)Then add 1 can of your choice of beans and mix well. Add in the amount of rice you wish to cook mix very well to color the rice well. Add enough water to cover the rice ( to know if you have enough water take a spoon and stand it upright in the middle of the pot if the spoon does not move you have the perfect amount of water) At this point add salt to taste. Mix in and leave rice alone to boil down. Once all water has evaporated out turn rice well. Bringing the rice From underneath to the top. (there will be rice stuck to the bottom of the pot which is normal and you have done nothing wrong.) Smooth rice into a mound and cover. Reduce heat to low and do not touch the rice nor remove the lid for 25 minutes. After the 25 minutes is up remove the lid and again turn rice from bottom to top. This time just spread in pot. If the rice is still slightly hard at this point sprinkle a couple tblsps of water over the top. If it is ok replace lid and leave rice for about another 15 minutes then it is ready to eat

  5. Only use brown rice.  Put about a tablespoon of olive oil in the bottom of a sauce pan with a tight fitting lid.  Put in a cup of rice and stir over medium heat until slightly brown.  Add two cups water and two bouillon cubes, and maybe a half-teaspoon of salt.  If you like less salt only use a fourth teaspoon.  Bring to soft boil, cover with lid.  Turn heat down to very low.  Cook for about 45 minutes.

The browning of the rice before you put the water in keeps it from being sticky.  You end up with fluffy rice.  Very delicious.

  6. RED BEANS AND RICE

2 c. (1 lb.) dried red kidney beans

5 strips bacon (or ham bone or 1/4 lb. salt pork)

    1/2 c. uncooked rice

    2 1/2 qts. water

    1 pod garlic

    Salt and pepper to taste

Soak beans overnight in 1 quart water in a heavy iron pot. Add another 1 1/2 quarts water, cut up meat, garlic, and a little salt. Simmer slowly 3 to 4 hours or until beans are very soft and water has cooked down to a thick red sauce. Add salt and pepper and serve over hot, fluffy rice. With hot bread and salad, makes a hearty meal for 6.

Leftover red beans can be made into soup by putting through blender with some chicken bouillon and a little lemon juice. Stir in 1 tablespoon sherry per serving, with hard boiled egg sprinkled on top.

  7. White rice is 1 to 1...One cup rice and one cup water.  Wild rice is 2 cups water to 1 cup of rice.  Just mix the beans, water and rice and bring to a boil...then turn off the heat and let it sit on the hot burner for 6 or 7 minutes.  Covered!  Then add your spices and stir.  Wild rice takes longer...about 15-20 minutes.

  8. I made some red beans and rice an hour ago. I am fairly adventurest though. I boiled my red beans with sage, thyme, cumin, chili powder, garlic salt and white pepper. poured in a little zinfindel and threw in a big hunk of bacon and cooked it. My rice I put in the same stuff and cooked it. Then I mixed the two when done cooking. It had a lot of flavor, kinda like that mahatma rice you can get.

  9. Rinse it very well.

Add it to a lot of boiling water and when it has regained the boil reduce heat to a rolling simmer, enough to keep the rice moving.

Set the timmer and simmer for 15 minutes.

Check that is to the texture you wish and drain well.

Fluff up with a pair of forks,

  10. Yum, making me hungry!

  12. always remember the standard for rice is 2 to 1. 2 parts water to 1 part rice. if you make 1 cup of rice you need 2 cups of water. add a teaspoon of salt to the water bring to a boil cover and reduce the the temp as low as you can get it. 20 minutes later perfect rice.

  13. Boil the water first then dump it in lol.

There is not real right way lol.

Most takes like 15-20 mins to chef up
