I really really wan't to make the cheerleading/poms. What are somethings I should work on? Any classes I should take? How do you make a good impression on the judges? How do you makle a good impression at practice tryouts? I have a long long long time till auditions.. so I have a lot of time to do this?

  1. If you don't have very good tumbling then it might be hard to prefect that even though you have awhile till tryouts.

so work on your jumps they are equally as important and easier to get good at faster. Toetouches def since i know that both pom and cheerleading do that. but since you say pom i dont know if it is more interlinked with dancing or cheerleading.

if cheerleading work on these, toetouches, hurkeys, hurdlers, pikes. if you dont know what those are then you can google them.

if dancing work on these, toetouches, leaps, ring leaps.

you can also google these as well.

oh and remember to pointe your toes!! on all of them!!

    other tips:

    be very sharp

    have lots of energy.

smile a lot, but not a cheesy smile, one like your actually having tons of fun.

also practice some of the things you have seen the previous teams in the past years do. most likey they will do it again.

good luck! i hope you make the team.

  2. The judges really like it when you have tumbling experience. So if you can do back hand springs, then you'll be good.

Also, you want to be very sharp with your arms.

When you rally, be VERY loud. And try to be the last one to stop rallying.

  3. Okk.

Over the summer, go to a cheer day camp. There are a lot around, and prolly many in your area. Just Google it. I found on in a magazine where I am, but it's a magazine that's just in the OC, so I'm sure you won't find anything unless you live here.

Take dance lessons. Ballet, hip-hop, whatever. Ballet makes you more flexible so that's a bonus. You just need to learn choreography.

And then take a tumbling class. I'm sure there's gymnastics places that have a tumbling for cheer class.

    Best of luck.

  4. Find out what camp the cheerleaders are going to go to.. bc the cheerleaders that are in the squad have to go to camp and go to the same camp so when the coach asks if anyone went to camp she will know you went and see that you are committed.

Also be not stiff and not too loose practice cheerleading moves in front of the mirror and compar yourself to the ones on tv at espn competitions...

Ps: the camp thing is only if you are goin to high school...
