How to make the high school golf team?

Well i was wondering what an average JV golf player would get on a 72 course? Im practicing alot and i can shoot 200 yards on the range with my driver and 130 or more with my irons. Im going to try out but im hearing its really hard so what does a average JV player get? When do i sign up the beggining of next school year?

Some high schools have fall golf, some have spring.  If your team is fall, then ask about sign ups in the summer.  If not, then there should be announcements at school for spring golf.  Our JV players on my team shoot on average 40-47.  Varsity is 36-41

It really depends on what kind of players are on your JV team. Last year (2006 really, because this is Michigan's first year of having boys golf in the spring), my entire team (JV included), had experience. This year, the JV barely had experience. My HS JV team was pretty much beginners.

I'm a sophomore and just wrapped up my first varsity season (8 seniors were on varsity in 06).

Whether you shoot in the 40s or 60s, don't fret. Just play your game.

Ever hear somebody say...."He looked great on he range"

While you numbers are in the adequate to fair range......take your game to the course and pay particular attention to your short game.  Remember.....More strokes are gained and lost within 50 yds of the pin.
