How to make them sit still?

I have a 4 year old step daughter and no matter where she's sitting, she constantly is moving. She cannot stop! I know it's normal, but it drives me crazy, and I get tired of asking her to sit still. I don't want to be mean because I know she can't help it, but it's really making me crazy. What can I do, if anything?

  1. I still havent totally figured that one out but I let my kids enjoy time out doors alot of time out doors because they have to much energy and they burn it off when they come in they are so tired out that they dont want to move.

  2. Kids can drive one insane with their constant activity.  The best thing for you to do is to channel that energy where you want it.

She may have become bored with her room and toys, so change the furniture around and be as creative as you can by perhaps introducing a small tent, extra wall murals, music, interesting lighting, etc., to get her interest back.

Read to her.  Show her pictures in books and magazines.  Children enjoy the closeness and the soothing sound of your voice and it may calm her down every now and again - and give her plenty of hugs and reassurance.

Take her for long walks outdoors - in fact, give her as much activity as you can to tire her out.

  3. Cut out the sugary foods and take the kid out in the fresh air.  You need to burn the heebie-jeebies out of her.  Exercise does wonders.

Also - turn off the TV - constant noise can make kids hyper too.

  4. Try to give her some crayons and a coloring book get her interested in some thing ans she might be still for a little bit LOL

  5. Stop feeding her junk foods and sweets.

Then, give her something to do.

  6. When I want the children at school to be still I tell them we're playing the frozen game. They'll be still a little while and then I'll say okay you're unfrozen. It only works for a little while, but it comes in handy when you need it. Remember that little children are all about motion and we all were active I'm sure if we asked our parents.

  7. OMG..i though i was alone on this...my daughter is the same way...she just can not stand or sit stilllshe has to move about..it also drives me crazy.....i just try my best to deal with it..
