How to make your own SMALL shipping box?

I need to ship this small item to my sister, about 3 inches length, width: 2 inch,

I want to make this box that;s STRONG. I have heavy weight paper, but I'm not sure if it's going to ship safely.

the item is a home fragrance oil. dimensions includes paper wrap & bubble wrap.

  1. The pack and ship places cut a small box down with a razor and pack the snot out of it.

    2nd choice is box inside a box.  Thats the best really.

The US Postal Service will give you a free shipping box.  If you want to make your own, heavy paper is not strong enough.  Take a piece of heavy cardboard -- if you don't have any, get a good clean box (from detergent or something like that, not fruit or veggies) from a grocery store, and cut off a flat piece about 14" by 10".  Put your parcel (including the bubble warp and paper) in the middle of the cardboard, and using scissors make a slight indentation all the way around it, allowing a tiny bit of space.  Fold the cardboard up around the four sides. Then fold in the sides, almost like wrapping up a gift -- VERY CAREFULLY, NOT  TO DAMAGE THE GIFT. You may need to trim more cardboard off.  Then seal all loose sides/ends with packing tape.  Leave room for the mailing label.
