How to make your own pet i.d. tag?

Looking for the best diy way to make a permanent id tag for the collar of my shetland sheepdog (long hair) without it being too complicated a process. Thanks.

The easiest and cheapest way is to go to Wal-mart. They have machines by the customer service place. Its only 80  cents. And u get to make it the way u like. u get to pick the inscription and everything. And u dont have to wait. It takes about 10 second! Hope this helped!

Don't bother. If you get a suitable little piece of metal, drill a hole in it to hang it, buy a little engraver thing and put on your lettering, you will probably have spent enough to buy 6 tags from a pet store that will make one for you and yours won't look as good. And I never put my dog's name on a tag, just my phone numbers. They say if the dog's name is on the tag, it makes it easier for someone to steal the dog since they can use its name.

Why not use the I.D. order form on Milk Bone Dog Biscuits? They do the engraving and it's only $1.50.
