How to make yourself look tanner with makeup?

my face is very pale compared to the rest of my body (it is around 3 shades paler) and i think my makeup looks really bad since it's very pale. I was just wondering if you're supposed to match your foundation/powder with your face or your arm or what? Also if i keep my current light makeup and just add a bronzer would that look good or should i just upgrade it all?? And would you recommend using foundation or powder or both?? And if i get darker makeup should i get a bronzer with that? And what products would you recommend?

Thanks!

  1. I agree that you should use on of those graduation "touch of sun" type moisturizer so you won't have the problem anymore. I sometimes think it looks really fake when people wear darker makeup on the shade because it looks really obvious on the skin later in the day (Yes this is from personal experience).  You may want to try a bronzer instead, but be careful you don't want your skin to look dirty.

  2. Your foundation/powder are supposed to match your neck.  When you put it on your face there should be no distinctive line between your face and your neck.  If you want to look tanner, try a bronzing cream/self-tanner on your face.  If you want to use make-up, stick to bronzer but use it sparingly or you'll look "made up".

  3. Hang around with albinos or ginger people. Then you'll look tanner by comparison.

  4. If you put dark make up on pale skin it can look fake and/or blotchy. You should match to the colour of your cheek. You can use a bronzer over your light make up - I recommend trying it out a few times to see how much you want to put on to keep natural. I use Chanel Universal Bronzer, slightly on the pricey side but lasts for a very long time, you can apply it without a brush though I prefer to use one. I personally don't like to use foundation as it often looks fake or orange (I'm very pale though!) but if you've managed to find one that's good for you stick with it! I use a concealer (Lancome full coverage) and a powder (Dior) which work very nicely for a good but natural looking cover.

You could also try using your light foundation witha darker powder over it instead of a bronzer. I wouldn't advise dark foundation or concealer though!

    Good luck! Hope this helps!

  7. Hi hun =] How come your face is paler than the rest of you? =S lol Anyway...you could either buy a good quality bronzer (not too dark or too orange though!) and dust that lightly over your face after applying your usual foundation, or (and I would personally prefer this option - I do it myself), you could buy a spray or cream fake tan designed to be used on the face (or for face/body - doesn't matter), and either apply that to your face (without make up on) or spray some on your fingers & put it on like that (depends what type you buy). I use fake tan shimmery cream by L'Oreal designed for face & body, and it''s great. Really works, makes me look really tanned with just one application. You can also try a shade darker foundation if you want, but it probably wouldn't look that great. I recommend you use fake tan on your face, or if you don't want to do that then you should apply your foundation (possibly in a shade darker), and then dust the bronzer over you face, mainly your cheeks - just be careful not to overdo it. If you feel any part of your face needs powder (ie your nose & forehead), then feel free to use powder too, as long as it's the right shade for you - apply it before the bronzer btw. Oh and foundation colour is usually judged by testing it on your jawline, not your arm. If you're still unsure, pop into a local store that sells make up (boots, superdrug..whatever) and ask a member of staff for advice, especially if they work in the actual make up department of the store. I've done this myself loads of times in Boots, the girl was really helpful & helped me choose the right foundation by testing it on my jawline. Try a little experimentation yourself too, see what you like best. Hope I helped a bit!! Good luck & take care..<3 x
