  1. i think starting a tournament would be a good idea. offer some sort of prize to the winner.....i.e. free drinks or food or $$$$

  2. Hello.

I think handing out promotional "tickets" as such in the local area offering something like "pay for 1hr, get 1hr free" or "your 1st 2 visits half price", or "free membership for your first year worth £10/$10", etc.

Basically, a special/promotional offer of some kind would definitely attract people.  You could possibly run some competitions in the future with 1st and 2nd place prizes, half-price evenings.

Think about it - if you have some promotional offers then people will want to come and they will bring their friends, who will tell their friends, who will bring their freinds, and so on.

Just literally make them an offer that they can't refuse!

Something like that would DEFINITELY attract me as I am an avid Snooker player!

    Hope this helps!

  3. Getting involved with leagues is usually the best way.  You can also try tournaments, but those can be tricky.  I ran a pool tournament for several years, but it can be tough to set the right entry fee vs. payout.  Promotions like free pool with food, or getting a trick-shot artist to do a demo can also get people showing up.

The best way to keep the serious players around is to make sure to take good care of the tables (levelling, brushing, re-felting)

  4. I would wonder what type of people your looking for

4 tables with a bar ?? belive it or not Free Pool your not gonna pay the rent with money from the tables anyway-but they will spend lots on drinks and food if avail.

If you want -real-players MONEY Tourns Gamble  whatever

Kids forget it-Im all in favor of younger players but not in a bar-club

Or just ask them what they want ??

  5. I'm not trying to be a jerk or anything, but this is not the best place to be looking for this type of information. Talk to other bar and hall owners around town about what they do to market. Most small business owners are friendly to everyone, including competitors, and have no problem sharing information unless your place is right next door.

I don't know what you think 'in mass' means, but with only 4 tables you'll never have more than 16 players (usually there will be 8 or less) at one time unless you have tournaments and leagues. As I said in my earlier post, leagues will attract casual players, and tournaments will attract serious players.

Coupons and specials are a good idea, but won't fill the place very often. Realistically, you won't have 4 full tables anytime but league and tournament days, or Friday and Saturday nights unless you have something other than pool drawing them in. That's why it's imperative to have things going on during weeknights if you want to keep the place full.

Happy hours and food specials will help draw people in as well. You could also try drink specials specifically for pool players.

If you do not have a bar or kitchen, you either need to buy 10 more tables (or more) or shut down. You can't make money with a 4 table, no bar pool hall unless it's in the basement of your house or a building you own that has some other business in it and have no employees (at the pool hall, not the other business).
