How to manage people?

i just graduate in mechancial engineering, rite now i m working in a consulting company were i am working as foreman, as a consultnat should have 10 year of experienc, so they send me to a site which is located in a very small village so rite now no experinced mechanical engineer want to go to that site so rite now i am handling everything like for approvals etc,but i dont have pratical experience, so the problem is that during site i cant able to judge my answears, & even my company members are not behaving well with me as i comitted mistake as i approved one drawing like i thought that will be rite but after when i approved after that i gone through a catolouge in that i find that there should be a change so i went to my manger and he was angry on me infront of other peoples after that there were rumors that i m not a good mechanical enigneer and no one even consulting me,so like i m not feeling comfortable i even cant leave the job as i have responsibilty towards my family,help me

  2. Get back to the drawing board regarding your spelling, and your keyboard skills. Earn respect from those who aren't as qualified as you,but are probably much worldly wiser.

  3. You learn the hard way.... Just do alot of hearing and not alot of talking..... listen to the people that have done the job for a long time, experience is better than a degree....

    Just ask your boss to be your mentor and guide you....

    Ask others to help (but dont be a friendly guy - in the long run it bits you back) and always keep a nice ""wall" between you and X.
