I work in Media company for 1 year as a client service manager. All staff are very young. In the beginning everythiing was fine, but for the last few weeks everything is out of control. They don`t listen what I say, coming to work late or making durty jokes which I really don`t like, plus I had situacion today one of the guys call that he can`t come to work, because he needs to say bye bye to his dog before parents will put him to sleep(he was sick).I told him that I don`t know who can cover his working ours and he just told me **** off. What shall I do,report to HR,other managers??Or maybeIme overreacting?

  1. No, you are not over-reacting. But you should not have let it get this far out of control. Your first action should be to call a staff meeting and set out the new rules. Draw a line under previous behaviour and explain that beginning today, right now, this is the way things are going to be done. And if they aren't, they can start looking for some other place to work. Then make sure you do exactly what you say you are going to do. Treat them all equally, treat them fairly, and reward good behaviour. But don't put up with this sort of nonsense. You aren't doing them a favour because all they are learning is bad work habits.

  2. sorry, but you arent doing your job....start getting tough...have a meeting, tell them things are changing, if they dont like it then they are gone...otherwise, Im afraid, you are going to get fired for not doing your job....
