How to measure a serving of pasta without a proper mearsuring cup or scale . . .?

would you say DRY uncooked pasta filled to the brim of this teacup would make One/ more/ less than a 3 oz/ 85g serving of pasta

  1. yes remember pasta doubles in bulk  when cooked.

    I usually use 2 handfulls as a gauge

  4. The teacup and hands full idea works well. Often I simply pour out enough to give an inch deep cover the bottom of a pan or bowl of the size serving I want, then transfer it to the boiling water. That usually does it about right for me.

    It can be a little more or less, depending on what I desire at the time. The lovely thing about pasta, it is very forgiving, one need not be spot on with measuring it out.

    1/2 cup cooked pasta = 1 oz. dry.

    1 cup cooked pasta is a serving. (2 oz. dry)

    It seems as tho that teacup could hold at least 6 oz of dry pasta, which is the equivalent to 3 servings cooked.
