Question:

How to minimise scratches?

Long story short, I'm cooking a lot more than I used to this summer and I've ended up with quite a few miniature knife cuts on my hand.

They don't bleed, they're just like really long paper cuts which don't appear to be healing.

How can I, other than wearing rubber gloves like my mum insensitively suggested, prevent or minimise the chance of getting another?

Thanks in advance xx

  1. Oh me too!! I am forever cutting my fingers! And it hurts!!

You could try latex gloves, the disposable ones like they use in hospitals... they aren't as bulky or badly fitting as rubber washing up gloves! I tried cutting food wearing rubber washing up gloves but its impossible!! You end up inept, its like trying to use your feet!!

The other suggestion is to make sure you are using really sharp knives and a proper chopping board so that food isn't rolling round or slipping about as you try to cut it. Other than that, there isn't a lot you can do. Unless you get a small food processor / blender thing. I have a mini one and you can slice cucumber / veg; grate things or chop using the blade attachment.

    Something like this -

  2. Why is your mum apparently so insensitive because she suggests you use rubber gloves?

Not everybody wants to eat food that has been prepared by people with open wounds (bleeding or not) and wearing them for a while will not only help the healing process but it might make you take a bit more care with your knives!

  3. use aloe vera the plant just cut the outside and use the goo or neosporn but ....not sure if it will work since i can't see it and aloe vera is used to disinfect also it makes sure your skin does no scar XD but not sure if thats the case wen your bleeding

  4. Concentrate on what you are doing, and slow down.
