Is it possible to install an AX15 transmission between an inline 6 cylinder (258) engine and a DANA 300 transfer case in a 1984 CJ7? If so what modifications are needed?

  1. If you are lucky to find a 6 cylinder 89-90 YJ there is a chance it could have a AX 15 in it as the AX 15 was put into Jeeps from 1989-1997 and the 4.2 liter was used in YJs until 1990.  As far as adapting it to the transfer case, I would also suggest Advanced Adapters.

You may also get lucky and they have the same mounting bolt pattern.  I would suggest you check a Jeep Forum..
