  1. Assuming that it will go up the stairs then get someone else(or preferably two people) at the lower end as the major weight will be in this position.Strong arming it is the quickest way.

  2. Whatever you do, do not attempt this on your own.  Contrary to common belief, 16-year-olds do not have skeletons made of titanium nor muscles made of carbon fibre!  You will break!

This sounds like one of the last of the pre-LCD/plasma screens - in excess of 36"...  These things have a centre of gravity that is almost right behind the front of the screen because the glass is so thick, there.  So you will have to plan your move in terms of having people mainly supporting the TV from just behind the front.  Rehearse it several times with a large box so you know who has to go where.  I'm not kidding!

You should have at lest three other people help you do this.

Frankly, I would just try to earn the money for a modern LCD/Plasma one instead.  These are still heavy but two people can do it without needing to write a will, first.

  3. Get another strong person and a hand truck. Tie the TV onto the hand truck. Go one step at a time, one person at the top and one at the bottom. The person with the most shoulder muscle should be at the top.

  4. Go to a rental store and rent one of those motorized two-wheel carts that have tractor treads for going up stairs. People who install those 275 gallon boiler tanks use them to get the tanks in and out of the basement and that is a lot more lifting than you have in mind.
