How to narrow down in applying college scholarships?

I am in need of scholarships for college education. I have very good grades in high school and I want to continue college education. But I face a tough financial situation that I am not from a rich family. I am thinking going to Stanford University, UC Berkeley or one of California State University. How to afford fifty thousand or less at Stanford or UC becomes a big issue for me.

With thousands of scholarships out there, how to narrow down to less than ten scholarships that will make me qualified for?

I don't want to shoot in the dark and miss the target. I want to apply for the ones that I am qualified for!!!

  1. Why are you limiting yourself to ten?  You need to apply for as many as you are eligible to apply.  You can apply for dozens/hundreds and never get a single one.  Make a goal, say apply for 10 scholarships a week, until you graduate from high school.  50K is a lot of money, your gonna need to work hard to come up with that kind of cash.  If you think that is too much work, then you might reconsider your goal of attending college, or at least your goal of Stanford.

You will have best luck applying for scholarships from the school you plan to attend and any organizations you have a personal connections with.  Good luck.
