How to not get disconnected from the internet when answering the phone?

Whenever I answer the phone, I get disconnected from the internet. I would like to know how to fix or upgrade this.

go into your modem settings and hit disable call waiting or put a *70 in front of the dial out number

Are you on a dial-up connection, meaning you have to call up your internet provider? Then there is no way around this, you can't have both going on at the same time. It must be one or the other.

If you change your service to DSL or Cable, this will no longer be an issue, and can be a better deal for you than dial-up is.
