  1. You can apply for a smart card for the railways at the designated railway booking office (counters) at railway stations. Smart cards are surely better than waiting in the line.

You have to first pay Rs150 deposit and you get a Rs50 balance. You can charge it with as much aount as you want(acc. to me).

For Go Mumbai Card .. . .maybe the BEST depot !!

  2. Go Mumbai Card to be sold across BEST depots

and the first instalation has been done at cst to try for railway.

see the photo yourself what the passanger doing at go mumbai vendore machine .click on this link to get  detail.

  3. You can buy a Smart Card from most of the major stations which have a computerized railway ticket vending at the counters... this includes CST, Churchgate, Andheri, Vashi, etc....

Also, a Smart Costs Rs. 100 and not Rs. 150.. You get 52 Rs. validity the first time you buy it and the rest is kept as security deposit. And then you can recharge only in denominations of 50. I got a smart card 2 days ago.. So this is latest information.

The bad thing about smart cards is you don't have the machine at all the stations.. :-(

I don't know about Go Card because my station still shows the machine as "Out of Service"..
