HelloI am a US citizen and want to petition my parents who currently live in Hong Kong. They were born in Indonesia in the 1930-1940 but moved to China during their childhood. I am asked by USCIS to provide their original birth certificate but these certificate were either destroyed during the Chinese Cultural Revolution or not available. My mother couldn't even remember the name of the small town in Indonesia she was born. Where can we get a statement from Indonesian government that their birth certificate cannot be found? Can they just go to Jakarta Civill Registry or do they need to go the city where they were born? The problem is they couldn't even remember the exact town or city where they were born. They were just kids at that time and now they are over 65 . What can we do? Please help!!! Greatly appreciate your help!! Thanks a bunch!!
