  1. I am not sure if this is true for banks and credit unions, as I have only used the latter.

You will need two forms of identification, typically driver's license and social security card. Just go into the financial institution of your choice and ask to open an account.

The amount you will need to open one will vary, depending on the institution. Some will open an account with as little as $100 and some require more or less.

Once you have established a checking account, your PayPal account can be "attached" to it as a source of funding, yes.

  2. Go to your local bank and ask at the info desk. They'll give you all the details. (Usually the bank you choose  is where you deposit your pay check and do pretty much all your other transactions)

  3. It depends on the bank

A Credit Union is the best bet.

    Most only require 25.00 -100.00

you can discuss, direct deposit, paypal and all of that with your local Credit Union, They are much better than regular banks.

  4. Go to your local bank and see the accounts' manager. You sign some paperwork and deposit some cash.  The amount varies by financial institution,  usually is 100 to 500.

Adding your paypal account can be arranged with the bank.

Or you can go online and open a checking account with Capital One or any of the big names.  Information is entered online.  Online places are paying better interest rates than the neighborhood banks.

But I like being able to stop in and discuss things with someone at my local bank.
