We have an attic in our house but it's sealed. How can I open it? I don't think it's ever been opened before. I'm not sure if it would be insulated since the house is only a few years old.

  1. you need to pick a bedroom. to use as access.

then near the wall . cut an opening .     first you have to find  the studs.  on a new house , they tend to be 24inch on centre.

cut the sheet rock , so you can feel the wooden studs . then  measure, and cut     2ftx 3ft wide.    new houses are insulated as a rule .      then you need to build a cover , useing 2x1 wood on either side of the opening.  then place a sheet of sheet rock ,the same size

painted the same as your , ceiling.....

one more point, when your up there, install a light   , so you can see, when you walk a round .....   it  also gets   very hot up there. .....  so  get up there in the morning when it s  cooler

  2. There may be an entrance from the garage, or in a closet. If not, cut a square hole using a drywall saw between the ceiling joists, being very careful to avoid any electrical wires that may be cutting across. You will need to frame the entrance you made and create a plywood trap door to close it up again.

  3. I would start by drilling hole in wall to make sure there are no wires or beams in the way on the other side. Good luck.

  4. I am sure there is an opening   look in a closet... small square opening   with May be base board around it... if not make your own opening.
