How to organise a small american pool tournament with one table and 10-15 people?

At work we have a pool table, but I'd like to organise a tournament which is interesting and fun to play. We can play only one hour a day and I guess 15 people are going to join. I wanted to create a blog where everyone can sign up and post the results of the three games played. I just dont know every pros and cons of the tournament organisation. Can everyone share their experience?

There are a few things to consider.  Since you only have an hour to play each day, and I'm guessing that you don't want this tournament to run for a month, you're probably going to be limited to fast-moving short-rack games like 9-ball and 7-ball.  As much as I prefer straight pool and 8-ball, those games simply take much longer.  You probably won't have time to have a race to 7 games format, so you'd be better off with a best of 3 format.  A double-elimination round robin tournament will probably work well with a wild card spot or some other minor change.  Even a single-elimination tournament would work.  Just pull the names out of a hat for the first round.  Personally, I think you should have players lag for the break rather than a coin toss.  Be sure that everyone agrees on the rules prior to beginning the match.  It would be essential to keep a copy of the BCA rulebook handy to settle disputes, if you don't plan on having a referee present.  In the absence of a referee, often the tournament director (in this case, you) will assume the duties of the referee.  Also, in re-reading your question, you refer to "three games played".  What did you have in mind?  If I think of anything else to add, I'll update my answer.  Best of luck.  M.D.-BCA Instructor/Referee.
