How to organize high school notes?

Alright, I'm off to Grade 10, which is my first year of high school, and I'm getting pretty nervous (actually very) and excited. I was curious as to how to organize my notes.

I have a binder, folder and notebook for each subject.

I want to have a good system set up so I can be more organized, because this year all I want is to be organized and on top of everything. I have black, blue, red and green pens. Along with yellow, orange, green, blue and pink highlighters. I was curious as to how to make my note perfect. I know I'm going to separate each unit within the class with dividers. But for the highlighters and pens, how should I use them. I want to do something like, all my examples in green pen and all my terms in red pen. But what else would I need to write with notes so I can have my system set up now. Also, highlighters, what to highlight and what color.

Thanks for helping me out!!

Tamara.

  1. drop out of high school. look at pocahantus she never went

  2. Just use dividers and put everything according to class and put homwork 1st so u get that and notes behind that. clean it out every 6 weeks.

  3. you find out what works for you as time goes on

you will get the hang of it

maybe you could highlight the term & then right the definition?

    and try Cornell notes

  4. Well the method i use to organize my notes is...

I crumple them up and store them in a hole i accidently made in my wall.

It works for me but i wouldn't advise it. Iv always been very disorganized

High school is for having fun not organizing files... just enjoy yourself

Being organized doesn't help you get the grades relaxing does. I just got my results for my exams and i got a A+ .. two As and 5 B's and thats with no file system and 5 years of mucking about.

  5. Well I'll try to give you my ideas...

Write with pencil normally, it's easier to erase.

Use each pen for a different subject.

EX. black to math, blue for english, red for geography and green for science

Use it for underlining your titles, subtitles etc and anything else they tell you to underline.

As well as spliting up pens for school, split up you highlighters.

EX. Orange for math, pink for english, green for geography and pink for science.

Use highlighters for whatever the teacher tells you. Also another recommendation, I believe if a teacher refers to something multiple times. Highlight it, it's probably something you should remember. See if you can get a mini ruler for highlighting to keep your lines straight. Makes it a lot nicer to read.

If school hasn't already started practice writing the alphabet over and over to get you writing neater. It would be like school because you'll have to write a lot in school and you'll get tired of it, but you can practice keeping neat writing.

For you binder, folder, notebooks here's an idea. Put you notebook in you binder and use it for taking good notes, not just random stuff. You could even write it out after school and just take the regular notes in class. It would be considered studying. Then for you folder you could put any homework assignments in it. Like say a math sheet etc.

    Best of luck! Have fun!

  6. Ok have a seperate section for homework and notes

Write all notes in black and high light them and label what note they are like MATH NOTES or LANGUAGE ARTS.

    black pen= Orange

Blue pen=blue high lighter ( i hope it is a light blue)

    Red pen=Pink  highlighter

    Greenpen=Yellow

make a table of contents for each binder like for exaple

write a small number at the bottom of each paper and put them in order like 1234 and write on a pice of paper and put it in the frount and put like

    Sciance homework pg.1

    Sciance paper rules sheet pg.2

like that and keep trak of everything so that way you look at your table of contents and be like sciance paper page 2 and go to page 2 and it will be there

clean out ur binder often of all un used paper

  7. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?...

just search your answer in yahoo search bar might some one have already asked the same one and if its not suitalbe you can search through google.com

you loose your points when you ask a question

  8. Whenever I take notes (or get a handout), the first thing I do is write the date in the right hand corner and highlight it.

For each class, determine which color you want to use and always highlight the date and title in that color. The different colors for writing is a good idea. Red is better for underlining the really important things rather than writing because it's a color that draws a lot of attention. Use the darker colors for writing and underline/highlight what you find is the best information for you to use in studying.

I'm assuming your classes are English, History, Science, and a math class of some sort...

Use the yellow highlighter for highlighting notes in all classes, but decide which classes the orange, green, blue, and pink will each be for.
