Question:

How to over come Self Injury?

I have been a cutter for almost 8 years. i'm in counseling and really want to stop but there has been nothing that i can think of that is as good as cutting or even burning. I need replacements but really am at a loss as to what it could be. Does anyone who has been through it and knows what i'm talking about have any suggestions? What worked for you?

I used to be a cutter not too long ago.I must say,GOD helped me quit.As you have probably found,cutting is a false sense os relief and pleasure.I say that because once you do it,you deal with the after math after it.You worry about infection getting into the scars.You worry about people finding out.You worry about getting sent to a mental institution.You worry about hiding it from your friends and family.You worry about where it will lead in the future.There's a number of things.My highest suggestion would be for you to pray to GOD about this.GOD can solve anything.GOD loves you and GOD cares about you.GOD doesn't want to see you hurt yourself.Maybe you could listen to some constructive music such as Switchfoot or Jon Foreman.You could watch some constructive television shows such as the inspirational channel.You could talk to a friend or family member.You could exercise.That takes up time.You could practice playing an instrument.Even if you don't know how to,you could try because practice makes perfect.You could read a book or the BIBLE.You could sing.It's a good way to express your feelings.You could express your feelings in art.You could paint or draw a picture.And you could dance.Dance is a god way to express yourself.You'll over come this soon.I hope that I helped.So may GOD BLESS you!


  2. RELAX....PATIENCE, YOUR NOT ONLY HURTING YOURSELF BUT THE PEOPLE AROUND YOU. HAVE STRENGH THERE'S NO REASON TO BE SELFISH. AND TELL YOUR SELF THIS IS ENOUGH.

  3. i totally understand what your going through. I'm trying to overcome self injury too. its not cutting or burning or the stuff people know about but I'm starting to get somewhere. i started taking yoga at school and even though its strenuous, after its really relaxing and it has helped a lot. its different for a bunch of people but it has really helped me. i really recommend trying it. best wishes. :)
