i have this really weird phobia where i cant stand if someone touches my throat (more my adams apple) i have literally punched people in the face from kidding around and touching it. the thing is i am starting to grow quite a bit of facial hair in that area and i need to shave, but just the thought of shaving there makes me cringe. i cant even watch movies where there are throat cutting scenes because i will close my eyes like a little kid. but i have no problem watching arms get cut off or pretty much about anything else. what can i do, has anyone ever had this weird phobia or am i the only one.

  1. to get over any phobia i there are a few things that you can do.  You can flood your phobia which i don't think is right for you.

I think that you should start off with something little.  Right now while sitting here reading this get a mirror and look at your adams apple in the mirror.  look at it for maybe a minute, watching how it moves.  Do this until your comfy with the sight of it (days, weeks whatever is comfy for you).  Then move on to touching it, quick touches at first, then work your way up.  Then touch your adams apple while looking in the mirror.  Do each step until you are comfortable with it.  keep working your way up.  One day you might even have someone else touch your adams apple (perhaps have them wear a catchers mask the first time lol)  You have to really get in a good mind set to overcome your phobia.

Just take it one day at a time, good luck, and just take it one day at a time.

  2. Whenever i get a weird phobia i just tell myself to stop beings a baby and get over it....it does work you should try just tell yourself that its irrational and that you wont be able to continue daily life if you always have the dumb fear. works good for me, self therapy is the best.

  3. Well, this could have easily been triggered by a throat involved accident you witnessed or were involved in, but that's not the question, so...

    1. I know how you feel. I can't stand it someone touches me, on the leg or something.

    2. Overcome your phobia one day at a time. How is up to you.

    3. Buy some hair removal cream so that you don't have to shave.

    4. Make it clear that if someone touches your throat, there's going to be trouble. But please try to keep from punching anybody.

  4. You have taken the first step and acknowledged the problem. Speak to your parents and doctor about it. You can get some therapy to help you overcome it

  5. oh my gosh that's what happens to my when people touch or look at my feet. One time my friend was teasing me about it and i slapped her in the face lol. I think to over come your fear you have to shave your adams apple and don't close your eyes when somebody throat gets cut off in a movie. I know it will be hard for you but after you do it you'll be more used to the idea of people touching your throat and it won't be as big of a deal. Just take things one step at a time and soon enough you'll be phobia free.

  6. sounds legit

perhaps some personal time with a caregiver

  7. i know a couple of people like this and funnily enough i was just thinking about it a couple of hours ago, they developed it when something bad happened when they were little.
