Hi, im booking a holiday to New York but I am so worried about flying, i have asked this question before but it keeps playing on my mind. I have flown before so its not like i dont know what flying is like but i had a bad experience when flying to Ireland and Im just worried that it will happen again. Is it worth going to the doctors or should I jsut get on that plane and not worry myself to death? Thanks

  1. Some airlines run classes that give you the confidence to get over the fear factor ask one of them , there is help available.

  2. Was your Dad a Stewardess by any chance?

  3. Go to the doctor. He or she can give you some kind of tranquilliser or sedative to help calm your nerves. It's that or half a bottle of vodka before boarding (probably not wise!).

  4. Some airlines offer classes in such cases, so it may be an idea.....you could get some medication from the Doctor to help you to relax....most of the fear comes from not being in control of the situation....and the odd noises that come from the plane...but I always think that the Pilots are wanting to go home to their wives and children, so would not do anything stupid, and they are well trained, and especially on trans Atlantic flights they use modern planes.....so just try and relax and don't fixate on it.....and have a couple of gin and tonics....and a good book to take your mind off things....try and get an upgrade, things always seem better when you have plenty of room and not so crushed together, and free champagne.

  5. The only way is to bite the bullet and fly.I was really scared of flying so I was well into my 30s before I stepped foot on a plane. My wife persuaded me to take a small trip (to Jersey) to see if it was as bad as I thought. After the initial white-knuckle take off, I realised it was not so bad after all. Since then I have been to the Carribean (3 times) to the Seychelles, Maldives, South Africa , Gambia, Morocco, Egypt and many European destinations. It really isn't that bad...I even enjoy looking out of the window. if anyone had told me that in my 20s I would never have believed them. Go for it...you won't regret it and you may even get to enjoy it...like I did.

One bad experience shouldn't put you off, these are few and far between...the worst I've encountered is a bit of turbulence which soon passes and I've been on dozens of flights.

Take no notice of Fantazam, he's a scaremonger.....car, train and boat accidents are MUCH more common than plane crashes. Think how many planes travel every day, safely without a hitch.

  6. hey yo baby!

i use to fear looking myself in the mirror and my home is kinda like made out of mirrors!

(why u ask? cuz im always afraid someone's behind me!)

    SO! really!

dun u find it fun to have a fear like that? so, u dun like flying.

    Simple.

First thing is first. DONT GO TO DOCTORS! (trust me they dun hellp! and im tlaking from 1st hand experience)

Just remember, there's no point in worrying! I know you might think thats total rubbish, but listen, worrying dosen't make something not occur or h**l even occur! its just you sweating and wasting ur time over something u have no control over!

On the other hand, you could always do the old fashion traditional way.

Read the book my sis reads (she's same as u)

    :  Flying Without Fear

    By Keith Godfrey, Gordon Redrup

But u gotta remember airplane crashes are real real rare, unless ur flying on like dodgy airlines which i would luv to list them out starting with ***** *******  (not gonna write cuz dun want critisisms)

  7. The best way to come out of Fear is to face the Fear...........

today 10000000000000000's of ppl flay.nothing happens.air travel is the safest way of travel.i m not saying this data is saying.

    try to be relax.tack u r mp3 player with u and lisan u r Favorite mp3.........

  8. It won't happen, flying is a dangerous entity, take a train, boat or drive. What goes up must come down and often does with a bang and inferno.!
