How to overcome stress/the blues to make my art?

Life happens... my boyfriend and I have been living in a new, big city for about a year. So much stress and things happening all the time, and now I just can't seem to concentrate on my art. It used to be what I used to make myself feel better, but the last few months I'm "artistically constipated" for lack of better term.. I want to draw, I want to create, but my mind just wanders and the vision just become a blur. One of my biggest fears in life is that something like this could happen permanently.

I guess, my main question is... how did you overcome hard times with your art?

  5. Try taking your mind off from actually thinking about art.

You get constipation when you try too hard ;).

It helps to instead concentrate on something else for the time being, perhaps reading a new book, listening to new music, seeing new places(traveling) etc. Take some time off just for yourself.

I believe that being artists, we all have this fear of just losing 'it' and never being able to make another piece of art again. Give yourself some space and you will see the creative juices kicking back in in no time.
