  1. Also, make sure you hand is completely open and your wrist is very rigid. If your wrist is really loose, then the ball will not go over the net. Your hand and forearm should be perfectly straight, no bending! Keep both straight even after you hit the ball, make sure you follow through with your arm after you hit the ball. Good luck!

  2. Okay. heres the tip----

I use to be terrible. it would just smack straight into the ground infront of me.. This is the most important thing ever!

--place one foot back (to push off with).

--right as you throw it, lean into it and BAM.

--HIT WITH YOUR fist thinggy.. (platform)

    Good luck!

  3. make sure that you are reaching for the ball. your arm should be completely straight when you contact the ball.

and the fast your armswing is, the more power you will have in your swing. just make sure you stay in control.

so contact high and control your armswing...

    hope it helps.

  4. throw the ball up a couple times with out hitting and and make sure it drops right on your foot to improve your toss. then have someone on the other side of the net and stand close to the net and serve it to them and once you do that 10 times move back and then keep doing it and move back until you get to the serving line. keep praticing and you will get it. good luck! :)

  5. one thing that will help is crunching your abs. sounds weird but it puts more power on the serve. also, try imagining that the ball is your best friend and you want to give them a high five that stings. when you have nothing better to do, get a five pound weight and practice your swing, this works all of the muscles used in swinging.

  6. ok here is what you need to do... since you seem to already have your postioning and the toss of the ball down you need to work on the swing of your arm.

Bring your elbow to the side of your head and have your arm in a side ways "v" postion  ( < ) turn your whole body to the side of your hitting are so that your upper body is purpendicular with the net while your legs are still facing the net. when going to hit the ball flex your abs while turning your body and hit the ball at its highest point.

for a more powerful hit all you do is use your abs. lean back a little and follow through with your arm. its not all about your muscles in your arm. its about your ab muscles.

good luck. this should really improve your serve if you get it down

  7. i know how you feel, i'm bad on overhand serves too! my volleyball coach taught me the right way to do them. first, you throw the ball up in front of you, not too far away or too close to you, and at point where you can hit it effectively. then you take about two steps forward and hit the ball while dragging your back leg so you can hit the ball harder. i'm sorry if i didn't help, but i suggest asking your coach or one of your volleyball teammates to help you out. good luck! :)

  8. i play volleyball too..

even though i am 6' n you are smaller im guessing.

i used to suck at serving til i learned n that is basically cuz of practice.

you have to smack that ball soo hard.. harder than nething.. n dont smack it down.. that doesnt help.. smack it up in the air.. its ok if its a pop fly in the air n not a solid hard serve.. its over the net.. n you are still learning..

so dont give up.. volleyball is soo fun.

just smack that ball like you want to kill it or something.

use all your might to get that ball over the net.

n make sure you have eye contact when you hit the ball.. dont look away when you are hitting it. keep your eye on the ball.

  9. I have been playing volleyball for 5 years, and just recently perfected my overhand serve.

Im small too, trust me, the key is to practice practice practice. it will get more strength in your arm, and make it easier to serve. also try some push ups and exercises that strengthen your arms

    godd luck:)
