How to pack for World Youth Day in Sydney?

I'm going to Australia for WYD. I leave on Friday and still haven't decided how to pack! I'm taking a duffle bag that I'll check and a backpack that will be a carry-on. I also have to take a sleeping bag. Is there anyway to compress a sleeping bag so it doesn't take up as much room? Can I carry-on the sleeping bag seperate on do I have to put it in one of my bags? Also can I strap anything to my backpack? I'm flying with American Airlines. One more question... Is a guitar allowed as a carry-on?

  1. Im going as well!

Here's the checklist on what to bring and what not to bring, they also tell you what to bring for the vigil sleep out.

As for the sleeping bag question, if you go to the shops you'll see this sleeping bag which is waterproof, windproof and all these other good things about it, (and is smaller than your average sleeping bag), but it cost like $120-150 (thats Australian dollars, not sure about American), i forget the brand of it, sorry

Also when you arrive at Sydney if your a registered pilgrim you'll get a free "Pilgrim Pack"

    That includes

    Rosary beads

    Candle

    Clip on Koala

    Tattoos

    Pen Bandanna

    Prayers, Reflection books

    Pilgrim, Liturgy and Transport guide

    Poncho

    Thermal Blanket

    Kinetic Torch

    Water Bottle

    - I dont know if this is the pack for international pilgrims, im just reading what my paper tells me, considering im already from Australia.

    Hope all that helped
