When I palm mute just strumming down it sounds fine but when I do it strumming up some notes stick out more than others and all I can mostly hear is my pick hitting the strings. I've tried tensing up my hand to stop the pick from making noise but then I don't get that sound when I stum up palm muted. How do I palm mute more smoothly going up and down? This is for electric guitar btw.

  1. Look it up on youtube.i'm sure you can find it there.i'm sorry,i just don't know anything about guitars

  2. I've found that an effective way to maintain control over your palm-muting is to use the knife-edge (karate-chop) of your hand against the bridge.  Then, roll your hand down over the strings so you can pick.  You can vary the angle between the strings and your hand, using the bridge as the fulcrum.  The bottom of your hand and your little finger make more contact with the strings as you flatten out your hand across the guitar.  With practice you can achieve any degree of muting you want.
