It really depends on what type of exhibition you are thinking of. If you want to do this for an exhibition i.e trade or public exhibition at an exhibition centre then you could for example attend as a paying visitor and simply mix with the crowd and hand out leaflets and literature and do a hard sell on people there.

If you mean for art i.e. an art exhibition then make sure you build up a portfolio which is worthy of an exhibition centre wanting to show your art.
