I play rugby union and I have just swapped to the position of Flyhalf. I've got an awesome right handed pass but my left handed pass is a bit dodgy. Its fine at close range, but its the long spiralling passes i need help with. Can anyone suggest some different activities or excursises I can use to improve the accuracy and power of my left handed spirilling pass? Thanks.

  1. just keep practicing passing with your left hand and for the long passes throw your ball straight up above you and catch it when it comes down

  2. That side will always be your weak side. My advice, get a few friends and have one come in to tackle you, and then before he hits you, pass left. You just need to practice it over and over until you become more flexible to your left side.

  3. The best way to improve passing on your both sides is throwing the ball up, putting as much spin on it as you can from your bad side. Try to keep the ball straight, not wobbling, and try to land it upon yourself again.

As well as this, you can do shazzams. This involves cradleing the ball against your hip with one hand, then in one movement, move your arm out and your hand around the ball, effectively passing with one arm. It is difficult to describe here, but I hope it helps.

  4. Practise passing with only one hand, ie your left.  Soon you can add the other hand and pass properley.

  5. yeah just keep practising passing to your left. Get a bunch of balls and pass them over and over. Even when your just holding a ball pass it up in the air left handed and catch it again and keep doing it.

  6. it might help if u hold the ball with both hands in the middle instaed of your right hand at the front of the ball---with both in the middle then you would literally just chuck the ball but it still spins well and can get good distance and accuracy.......let me know if it works:P
