How to permanantly install programs on my PDA?

I have a dell axim x50v PDA with windows mobile 2003 2nd edition. when i install programs through active sync, everything works. but if my battery dies, all the programs are gone the next time i turn it on. what can i do to prevent this?

Windows Mobile 2003 2nd edition and below does not work on persistent memory unlike WM5 and WM6. So, if the battery dies, you would need to reset everything. To get your programs back, use active sync and have the items overwrite to your Dell Axim x50v
