I fell off a ladder a few weeks ago, after a few days I went to the doctor because my hand was pretty swollen, and my thumb hurt. Turns out I had partial torn something in my thumb, the doc called it "Skiers Thumb"..anyway he put me in a cast for 4-6 weeks, this was 2.5 weeks ago. Here is the problem, I can't go back to him to have the cast removed because my "after Military" health insurance has now expired. I am now working for the Army as a contractor, so I have Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO.....After 6+ years in the military I have no idea how to pick a doctor and what kind of doctor I need to go to...can anyone help? I live in Augusta GA.

  1. You need to go to an orthopaedic surgeon, however some insurances require you to be referred to specialists.  You need to call the insurance company, and tell them what your circumstances are.  Anyone can cut a cast off, but you need to have someone who will be able to tell you if you're healed enough to actually have it removed.

    Good luck!
