How to plan a simple Wedding?

Because my family lives abroad, we have to have two weddings done each done in our tradition. We have limited budget, and I don't like to get plan so much details, so I proposed to have a courthouse wedding here in the US (I'm atheist) and a reception for around 50 people. My fiance doesn't like the idea of courthouse wedding because he feels it would be too cold and he does want a ceremony of some sort. Anyone had courthouse wedding and can offer insights? How else can I have a simple wedding without spending/planning a lot?

  1. I had a friend who's father is a minister and he had performed the ceremony in a park. We had paid 35.00 for the park, but check with the local parks by you some are free while others charge a small fee. As for flowers I did silk flowers I went to save-on-crafts.com and ordered flowers from their discount section (if you do not like ordering online I would suggest going to a craft store or the dollar store). I also burned music off of Limewire.com. For food I served hotdogs, hamburgers and bought a sheet cake from Sam's Club. It cost me 100.00 for the food and flowers. My mom bought my dress for me and I had my ring picked out for months.

  2. there is all ways ways to cut the cost of a wedding. you can all ways have a notary republic marry you and then throw a big reception where both families can attend. most of the money spent on weddings are normally spent at the reception. because the ceremonies are usually minimal and only last for a brief second. then its time to party away. as far as spending alot of money on the reception, involve as many friends and family to help with decorating and preparing food. and hire a band and have a wonderful party.

  3. a park!! im now getting married in jamaica (just the two of us) but we were just going to have like 12  people at our wedding in a rose garden park. parks have a lot of scenery and they are usually free or close to it. all you would need to do it rent and arch and 12 chairs. you could put 3 rows of 2 chairs on each side. tie a sash on each chair on the inside (creating an isle.) it would be simple, cheap, and elegant.

  4. you could get a justice of the peace to perform your ceremony at which ever location you want.  Do you know someone with a nice backyard you could use?  Or a garden?  Could your reception hall work for a ceremony too?

  5. Try a beach wedding.

If you're on the east coast, try this website:

    www.allyouneedtowear.om

They specialize in beach weddings in the Virginia Beach / Hampton Roads area.
