I am getting married in Jan 2009. I have only 5 months to go, but I have not planned anything for my wedding. I am the eldest at my home and my father is no more with us, therefore I have to take all the responsibilities to hold my wedding without any probs.

I am a christian girl and my partner is following hindusm. Its going to be a love marriage. Both are working for same company but in different duty stations.

I know that I have to prepare something financially, physically and mentally for my marriage, but I dont know how???? Please advice me on what are the most important things, how to arrange them, how to get helps from my friends/relatives and how to organize all this?

I am bit stressed now, and I know the work is so huge, specially Indian weddings are so huge... We have just planned to hold a mas at church and a wedding poja at his hindu temple... Then as usual a wedding reception.. All are going to be on the same day... Please help me!!!

  1. you could get a wedding planner but that is really expensive. but you could start by asking your family if they would mind helping you out on the food. that would save a lot of money there. but you are still going to need to hire servers. a dj is also another cheep way to go also. buy a little bit at a time. if it was not for this web site im going to attach i don't know what i would have done without it for my wedding. it is a big help. there is a link on the site for EVERYTHING that you will need to get done. i hope it helps you like it did for me. and congrats on your big day:)

  2. make a guest list

fine a location for the ceremony and the reception that can hold your guests and within your budget

book a date for both locations

    pick food

    flowers

    photographer

    officiant to marry you

    invitations

    attire

it all starts coming together once you get going.  Do not waste any more time.  If this is to be a big wedding 5 months is very very close!

  3. And you also need to talk to your mother, and to his mother as well. They can be a good source for finding out what family and culture traditions are with weddings.

  4. my only advice is to consult a wedding planner...i kinda know what youre going through...a wedding planner is costly but just consult one and go from there...not great advice but the only one i can give you
