  1. Consult your DJ.  A  GOOD DJ will do this for you.  He/she has had experience and knowledge of what works and how to move seamlessly from one event to the next.

  2. utilize some sites

ebay offers personal guides with details read read and more reading..

you didn't provide what kind of reception how many guests and what the clothing/style/ambience you are trying to create or theme for wedding is???  are children invited or adults only..infdoor outdoor no wedding planner no reception hall/

write it down and narrow it down and you will come up with a creative reception... what's the budget ...i am still

gathering things for a zero$ budget anything is possible...

make it happen.  know what ur working with and grow from there.

    candy buffet

  3. you first have to know how many people will be comming  once you know  then you can start planning  you need to  figure out a  budget  on how much you can afford then start buying items little by little  for instance   1  buy table cloths  then napkins  then silverware  then cups   then buy decorations   etc  hope this  helps

  4. well there is a lot that goes into it.  I would need more details (you can email me) or I can give you basics

finda  venue in your budget for the amount of guests you have

    choose food and drinks

have cocktail hour with apps when you are doing photos

    dj announces your enterance

    dinner

    toasts

    cake cutting

    first dance

    then greet guests and party!

  5. I don't really know exact details also but one piece of advice is don't leave your guest in the reception area for too long while you are off taking pictures afterwords. It slows things waaaay down. My best friend made the mistake of doing this at her wedding and half the people there had left right after dinner because they took almost 2 hours after the ceremony to take pictures. I think the general flow is eat, dance, cake, dance, garter/boquet and that's all...maybe some more dancing. If you need more help check out some books. Or even a planner if you can afford it. Planning a wedding can be very stressful.

  6. Well it all depends on how into tradition you are. Lots of people manage to come up with something that fits their personalities. If you and your intended are casual people then you might go for a more lounge set up, encouraging your guests to sit around, relax and talk. If you two want something that's more formal then you can chose a more formal setting and stick with the traditional dinner, drinks and dancing. Close your eyes and think of how you want to feel on your wedding day. Glamorous? Then maybe an old movie theme. Elegant? Then a candle light dinner. Whatever you decide, it's your day so you can't go wrong.

  7. having a DJ booked will help a ton!! they help set the tone for your reception (introduction for bridal party and you as a couple, dinner music, cake cutting, etc).

knowing what type of meal you'd like to have will help decide your venue (unless you have this chosen already).

there really isn't a set order for things but most receptions goe like this:

-greeting bridal party as you walk into reception hall (bridal party will be lined up next to the door)

-once everyone is seated, DJ will introduce bridal party (bridesmaids/groomsmen, flowergirl/ring bearer, parents of bride and groom, and then the happy couple)

    -dinner is served

    -cake cutting time

-once it looks like everyone is done w/dinner and cake then the special dances will start (bride/groom, mom/groom,bride/dad,etc)

-after this, open dancing while couple greet their guests/take pictures

    -bouqet toss/garter toss

-open dancing/talking until end of reception

this is not set in stone but how most receptions usually flow.

    hope this helps and congrats!!!
