  1. You picked a really fun game! to start,

Each person gets 7 cards and the rest are placed in the center of the table as a pick up pile and the top card flipped over.

Player to the left of the dealer goes first, and picks up either from the discard pile (the flipped over card.) or the pile of cards. Then, that player would look at his hand (card-speak for the cards he is holding) and then sees what combinations he has.

The types of combinations that can be laid down is a three (or more) of a kind, like three kings, jacks, twos, threes, or four threes four fives four queens etc. (Any one can lay down the fourth if they have it and you just put down three.)

Or a set (ace two three, five six seven, but they have to all three be in the same suit. All either spades, clubs, hearts or diamonds.) and you can go from ace to king and add on whenever you get the next card. Also, anyone else can put on the next card if they have it.

You can only lay down cards on your turn, except for a rummy. Say player one has his turn and he discards a three, and someone has four threes down, or a 4,5,6 of that suit. then the first one to notice and yell rummy gets the card and keeps its points.

As I said, at the beginning of each ture the player picks up a card, but at the end of each turn, a card must be discarded onto the discard pile.

For scoring: after one person goes out the game is over,  and the people who still have cards, add them up and take that number of points OFF of their good cards ( the sets that are on the table that they put down)

Aces are worth 15 pts, 2-9 are worth 5 pts and 10 J, Q and K are worth 10 pts

Also, if at the beginning of your turn, you see a card you need buried under discarded cards, you can pick that, and all the cards above it and use it (you can only pick up from below the top card if you are going to use the bottommost card you pick up.) and then you discard a single card. You can use any of the cards in the discard stack you pick up, you don't only use one, use whatever you can.

Good luck, and if my instructions were too confusing, check out

they can seem contradictory sometimes, cause different people play different ways. you can also alter some things like the number of cards dealt.
