  1. Practice and using more air is the only way to hit high notes on a brass instrument. Lip slurs are great for developing your upper register. A different mouthpiece won't help much, unless it's cutting off air. If that's the case, your best bet would be to go to a music store; they should let you try out mouthpieces and find one that works for you.

    Good luck with the high notes. [;

  2. you need to increase your air velocity meaning to increase the speed of air you are sending through your horn. also, tighten up on the corners of your mouth. try not to push the horn closer or tighter to your face. it's a bad habit brass players get when trying to play high notes. for the mouthpiece, practice on a 3C and when it's showtime use the 7C. or you can use the Schilke brand mouthpieces. it's easier to play high notes using a Schilke.

  3. i'm not a brass player, but my friend let me try her mellophone, and i learned quickly that you seriously need to PUSH the air.

    really use your diaphram to push out the air as much as possible. this will help make it easier to hit those higher notes, and also, tighten your lips more, without over doing it.

    sorry, but that's all i got.
