  1. A lot of those websites can be a little complicated, but here is chess as simple as it gets...

Players take it in turns to try to take pieces from the opposition, I suppose you could say 'by landing on their square'. You do this by moving the following pieces like this...

-Pawns (Forward 1, can move forward 2 at start, must move diagonal forward 1 to 'take' a piece. Cannot move backwards)

    -Castles (Straight line any direction)

    -Bishops (Diagonal line any direction)

-Knights (2 squares straight ahead and one square left/right. Can 'jump' over other pieces)

-Queens (Diagonal / straight line any direction)

    -Kings (1 square any direction)

The game ends when a player's King has been taken, or both teams are in stalemate (just King .v. King left)

    Additional rules are:

-If a pawn reaches the other end of the board it can be replaced by any other piece that has been taken from you

-Only a Knight can 'jump' over pieces

-2 pieces cannot take 1 square

-Only 1 piece can be taken at a time, by landing on that square

    Setup:

    P-P-P-P-P-P-P-P

    C-K-B-Q-K-B-K-C

Yes, it isn't a simple explanation, but it isn't a simple game.

Chess is a fun competitive game played between two players.

A chessboard has 64 squares arranged in: eight rows of eight squares.

At the start, each player (one controlling the white pieces, the other controlling the black pieces) controls sixteen pieces: one king, one queen, two rooks, two knights, two bishops, and eight pawns.

The object of the game is to checkmate the opponent's king, whereby the king is under immediate attack (in "check") and there is no way to remove it from attack on the next move.

  5. Chess is a board game played by two opponents called White and Black. The chess pieces are symbolic of a medieval army and the goal is to capture the opponent's King.Chess rules start with setting up the board. White on right. Queen on her color. With diagrams. The Rules of How the Chess Pieces Move -- Pawn, Knight, Rook, Bishop, Queen, and King. The rules for castling. With this one move, you get your King into safety and activate one Rook for further play.
