"I normally use 3 fingers. Thumb, index and middle. While I anchor my hand on guitar body with ring and pinky. Maybe classical player could argue about that, but for me it works fine. Well, sometimes if I need it I use the ring finger, too. But mostly the three fingers I said. With my thumb I can play bass line while playing a melody with the other fingers. If I have to play rhythm I strum up and down with index and middle together. Then using one finger for each string you can easily play arpeggios. Finally if I have to play fast licks I alternate thumb and index."
