How to plug in local area connection?

help!?

my mom said that only the computer in my room directly plugged into our modem is the only one that can have local area connection .

is this true?

is there a way to connect to local area without being directly plugged in?

  1. Get a cable network with RJ45 Similar to connector of  a telephone and  plug it  to the rear of the computer.  

    after doing  this go to the Control panel and make a click on Icon the network and go step by step


  2. you can also connect two computer using LAN cable nothing to need only need LAN cable and share file on lan network.

Your mom is right, unless you get a router.  I recommend getting a router because not only will you be able to connect multiple computers to each other via router, allowing you to share resources, files, hardware, etc.  it will also provide you with tighter security as your computer won't be directly connected to the modem. It will be behind your router thus hiding potential information you may not want others to know about. Outside connections/computers (e.g. hackers) will have to get pass your router before they can go further.
