  1. You are not ready to act on the answers above.  First you want to learn as much as you can.  The green search box above on this page, and the Internet are good places to start.

    For one thing, you don't need batteries unless you are off the grid, or have a pressing need for power during outages.  For another, solar panels are not nearly as expensive as stated above.

    Check also with your power company and state energy commission, to see what financial incentives are offered.

  3. First, gather a lot of money.

    You'll need:

    Solar panels .......................~$200 per 15W. unit

    Inverter charger panel ......~$2500

    Storage batteries ............  .~$100 per 200 A./Hr. unit

    Then figure how much power your house uses, and

    how much sun you get on the average, so you know

    how many panels, and how much storage you'll require.

    It gets expensive fast.
