I've had this dog for about 2 weeks and I've been praising her when she goes outside but discipline her when she goes in the house. I've been doing this for 2 weeks and I see no improvement. She still goes in the house where ever she pleases, does anyone have any suggestions? I need help! I am sick of my appartment spelling like pee!

  1. She has to be on somewhat of a schedule. Let her potty outside where you want her to go and then make sure to take her to that spot every time. the smell of it encourages them to go in the same spot. it takes alot of patience and is time consuming. If you stay very consistent it should happen rather quickly. Make sure you take her out alot at first pretty soon she will be able to remind you to take her. they are brilliant dogs dont get discouraged.

  2. That breed of dog is naturally hyper and takes alot of consistent training. When you are gone, is she in a kennel? Kenneling is a great way for dogs to learn bladder control and to wait until going outside to potty. Kennels needs to be big enough for her to stand up, turn around, and lay out comfortably but not much bigger or she will just pee in a corner. Dogs don't like to potty where they sleep. Take her out first thing in the morning, late at night before bed, and each time you come home and she's been kenneled. Also, while you are home take her out every hour. I know it seems like alot but she will really associate potty with outside and not want to go inside eventually. 2 wks is not very long, it takes months for a dogs to be old enough to hold it. She is only 4mons old and is still gaining bladder control. Keep taking her out frequently and she will get the hang of it soon.

  3. are you bringing her outside often, if so, take her out even more frequently.

dont punish her for going in the house, it is not her fault, it is yours.

monitor her activity 100% of the time, if you cant - kennel her.

    monitor her water intake

monitor her food intake (no free feeding)

  4. One trick is to take the puppy out every 2 hours and within 20 minutes of it eating and don't leave a water bowl out unless you want constant pee. I leave the empty water bowl on the ground and if one of my dogs gets thirsty they walk over to and kick it with their paw.

If you can't take her out (whether it's because you're not home or you'd rather watch tv), you need to put her in an area and block her in when your not paying attention to her. Make sure to have a pee pad in there and if she goes on the pad, praise her.

If she does go to pee on the carpet and you catch her, make noise and immedialty pick her up which will cause her to stop and put her on a puppy pad or take her out. Once she pees where you want her to then you can praise her.

If you have to spend a month doing this it's worth it in the end... What's worse??? A 4 month old pup peeing or a 4 year old untrained one?
