I play with a one handed backhand with an eastern grip. The problem is that i keep hitting the ball with the bottom half of the racket face, causing it to twist. This often give me a lot of painful blisters. Any tips or drills i can use to correct this?

  1. all i can say to you try drill the backhand at a slow pace, have someone perhaps a friend or coach to feed you some balls at a slow pace, then try hitting the ball naturally and keep hitting the ball until you feel technically your developing then gradually increase the pace of the ball. Another thing i might suggest is try not to think to much about the components of making a perfect backhand, the key thing is nurturing your natural shot into a consistent one. My advice would be just do what you do naturally but practice it over and over again until you start to realize certain things yourself that might improve the backhand shot.

  2. aright now according to my coach the backhands are easier to get than forehands:

    1) 12 o'clock position

    2) knees bent

    3) the ball is coming at you

    4) stay low

    5) angle your bod: put yourright foot in front of your left, shoulder to the net, position yourself so your aiming towards the opposite court

    6) bring your raquet back to 8 o'clock position and stay low and hit POW!

i ain't a real tennis pro yet but i'm getting there
