  1. Put a pH electrode in the 0.1 M glutaric acid and add NaOH dropwise into the glutaric acid until the pH reads 4.2. The first pKa of glutaric acid is 4.3. So by mixing the two solutions 1:1, you will get the pH 4.3. pH = pKa when [glutaric acid] equals [glutarate].
