How to prepare for the CFA?

I want to get the CFA. Any advise of how to study for it, what materials are good and where to get them? Looking for answers from people who already have the CFA. People who are studying for it are also welcome to respond.

Thanks all in advance

  1. I used Schweser a few years ago, at the time folks were saying good things about Excel/JKE but I think Kaplan/Schweitser acquired them, so I couldn't say now.  Schweser.com is the website.

Slow and steady is best when working on a CFA.  Plan to study about 1-2 hours a day for 2-3 months at minimum (that can move up or down depending on your experience).  We'd generally study for two months, take a simulated practice exam and use the last month to address the deficiencies and take more practice exams.
